Trokan Jubah, 29, was arrested earlier this weeks on Massachusetts Drunk Driving Charges after allegedly hitting three cars in Fall River.

According to the Fall River Police Department, officers responded to a call for a car accident and observed Trokan Jubah pushing his car near another vehicle that was hit. When they approached, officers allegedly smelled the odor of alcohol and burnt marijuana.

After reported failing Field Sobriety Tests, Trokan Jubah was arrested and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.

A recent review of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle statistics on Drunk Driving Charges has revealed that less than 50% of all DUI / OUI Charges in the state result in convictions.

According to the Registry, for the three year period of 2006 through 2009, only 49% of drunk driving related charges ended up in convictions. Additionally, the conviction rate for all motor vehicle related crimes was between 52%-58% for that same period.

Data obtained from an independent agency reported that in 2009, there were a total of 12,369 OUI related arrests in Massachusetts. Of those, 108 involved alcohol-related fatalities; 12 of which involved drivers under age 21. Notably, between 1999-2009, drunk driving related fatalities in Massachusetts has dropped over 29%.

minuteman statue.jpgJoshua Wilgoren was arrested Friday on Massachusetts OUI Charges after allegedly crashing into a Minuteman statue in Framingham. He was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.

According to the Framingham Police Department, Wilgoren lost control of his vehicle and struck the statue, which is reportedly 106 years old and one of only three Minuteman statues in Massachusetts. The other two Minuteman statues are located in Concord and Lexington; and interestingly, after the Framingham statue was made, the Massachusetts Legislature passed a law banning any further from being made.

Although there is no indication whether Joshua Wilgoren submitted to any Field Sobriety Tests or an Alcohol Breath Test, Framingham Police he allegedly admitted to having had a few too many to drink – if you believe that.

OUI crash.jpgRichard Blomgren, 30, was arrested for allegedly violating the Massachusetts Drunk Driving Laws after he crashed his car into a Rehoboth pizza place last Sunday night. Blomgren was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol; Failure to Stop for Police; Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle; and Malicious Destruction of Property.

According to reports, Rehoboth police attempted to pull over Richard Blomgren as he was allegedly speeding and passing in a ‘no passing zone’. Blomgren, however, allegedly accelerated and served into the parking lot of Plaza Pizza Restaurant, and eventually lost control and crashed through the restaurant.

There is no indication at this time what the specific basis the police had for the issuance of the OUI / DUI charges, including whether or not Richard Blomgren submitted to any Field Sobriety Tests or a Breathalyzer Test.

A Nantucket Police Sergeant has reportedly been charged by his own police department as having violated the Massachusetts Drunk Driving Laws. He has been charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, and is also under investigation by the District Attorney’s Office for other charges as well.

According to the Nantucket Police Department, the sergeant was off-duty when he was allegedly tailgating another vehicle that had two female occupants. The sergeant reportedly flashed his high-beams to signal the other car to pull over. Once that female driver pulled over, the unidentified sergeant allegedly approached and thought that he had a gun in his hand. The women then called the police and reported the incident, giving a description of the man.

Based on the purported description, Nantucket Police officers went to the unidentified sergeant’s home. Although details have not been released, the police supervisor made “observations” which he then communicated to the District Attorney’s Office, who in turn issued a summons for arraignment on the charged of Driving Under the Influence.

Justin McDonald, 22, was arrested on Massachusetts Drunk Driving Charges following an incident in Marshfield Harbor Saturday night the ended up with his friend missing in the water. McDonald has been charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol.

According to police, Justin McDonald was driving the boat when it suddenly slammed into a rock early Saturday night. The jolt threw both McDonald and his friend, Zac Woods, overboard. McDonald allegedly told police that he saw Woods in the water before going under; but then didn’t see him when he came back up.

Prosecutors also allege that McDonald admitted to being ‘a little buzzed’ and that he had consumed 10 beers before the crash.

Michael R. Davis, 48, was arrested on Massachusetts DUI Charges in connection with the death of Kristian Joel Rose, Jr., who lost control of his car Tuesday evening and was ejected from the vehicle.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Michael R. Davis was allegedly driving aggressively and following Kristian Joel Rose, Jr. moment before Rose crashed. Rose reportedly lost control of his car in the area of Exit 8 in Raynham on Route 495. The vehicle is believed to have rolled over several times, ejecting and killing Rose.

Massachusetts State Police arrested Michael R. Davis in Halifax and have charged him with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. State Police Reconstruction Division is still investigating the accident, and it appears that more charges may follow, including Motor Vehicle Homicide by Driving Under the Influence.

Kevin Giblin, a former Northborough Selectman, was arrested in Southborough on Massachusetts Drunk Driving Charges last week. He was arraigned in Westborough District Court on charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Kevin Giblin allegedly sped passed a state trooper’s car on route 495. The trooper followed Giblin’s Bentley, which allegedly “veered” into the other lane. The trooper also alleges that Gilbin’s car also almost struck a tractor trailer that was also exiting.

After pulling Giblin over for suspicion of OUI / DUI, the trooper allegedly asked him to submit to Field Sobriety Tests, which he reportedly refused to perform, as is his right. Otherwise, the only evidence of alleged intoxication the trooper relied upon was Giblin’s glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol.

A West Roxbury man was arrested this past week on Massachusetts Drunk Driving Charges after allegedly crashing his motorcycle that injures his passenger. He was arrested by Barnstable Police and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

According to the Barnstable Police, the person was allegedly driving his motorcycle carrying one passenger when it crashed in a rotary. The passenger was thrown off the bike and reportedly suffered serious injuries. When police arrive, the man was allegedly on the side of the road, and officers reported he had difficulty standing and smelled of alcohol.

The person refused a Breathalyzer Test and it appears that he did not submit to any Field Sobriety Tests.

James Shiner, 54, of North Reading, was arrested this past Saturday morning on several Massachusetts Drunk Driving Charges following a head-on collision that resulted in two people being treated for injuries. According to the North Reading Police Department, James Shiner was allegedly traveling on North Street when he hit another vehicle head-on. Although the North Reading Police Department alleges that Shiner was operating under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, there is no indication at this time as to what they based that conclusion on: including whether there was any evidence of intoxication and/or whether he submitted to any Field Sobriety Tests or a Breathalyzer Test.
