Roslindale Man Indicted for Vehicular Homicide by OUI in Scooter Death

Colin Ratiu, 23, of Boston’s Roslindale section, was indicted by a Suffolk Grand Jury on Massachusetts Drunk Driving Crimes in connection with the death of a 23 year old man who was riding his scooter.

The Suffolk County indictment charges Colin Ratiu with Motor Vehicle Homicide While Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident After Causing Death.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the Boston Police Department, Colin Ratiu was allegedly driving drunk when he struck Andrew Prior, who was riding his scooter, on November 14. Ratiu allegedly failed to stop and continued driving. Andrew prior was taken to a Boston hospital where he was pronounced.

Colin Ratiu was initially arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on the OUI / DUI Charges on February 14 and released on $7,500 bail. The following day, however, Boston Police executed a search warrant at his home and allegedly discovered a climate-controlled room where four marijuana plants were growing. He was then arrested on Massachusetts Drug Crimes Charges.
